Over the past decade, the field of science of science has benefited from an influx of natural, computational and social scientists who together have developed big data-based capabilities from empirical analysis and generative modeling that capture the unfolding of science, its institutions, and workforce.

This interdisciplinary event will convene leading experts in the field of science of science and innovation, aiming to provide a multi-channel platform that brings together both producers (scientists from industry and academia) and consumers (policymakers, publishers, funders, administrators, etc.) of the field.

The hope is that both the producers and the consumers in the arena of science of science and innovation can directly engage through the invaluable feedback loop that can drastically increase the practical relevance and impact of science of science research.

About the Science of Science:

Scientists today produce millions of research articles, preprints, grant proposals, and patents each year, leaving detailed fingerprints of the work we admire and how they come about. Access to this data catalyzes the emergence of a new multidisciplinary field called the science of science, which, by helping us to understand in a quantitative fashion the evolution of science, has the potential to unlock enormous scientific, technological, and educational value.

Goals of the Conference:

  • Build a community of science of science researchers-academicians, experts from industry and government agencies, as well as policymakers-who are committed to advancing research on science and innovation through computational methods.

  • Provide a multi-channel platform for attendees to hear and discuss the latest advances in the field and understand the needs from funding agencies, policymakers, publishers, academic administrators, and companies-those who consume the insights of the science of science.
